Global Chicago
Global Chicago enhances Chicago’s strengths as a global city and raises awareness – both here and abroad – of Chicago’s international connections. In 2003, Global Chicago published its first book, titled Global Chicago, on the impact of globalization on the Chicago metropolitan area. The Global Chicago Web site, globalchicago.org, includes a comprehensive calendar of international events being held locally and a growing database of local and global resources, in particular a Media Guide to Foreign Policy Experts in the Midwest. Global Chicago also creates joint programs with community organizations in ethnic neighborhoods. Visit globalchicago.org.

Global Midwest Initiative
The Global Midwest Initiative is a regional effort to promote interstate dialogue between government, business, and civic leaders about how best to respond to, benefit from, and shape global forces. Through a series of conferences, seminars, and publications, it aims to serve as a resource for those interested in the Midwest’s ability to navigate today’s global landscape. The Global Midwest Initiative Web site, globalmidwest.org, includes a calendar of events, links to critical reports covering global issues affecting the Midwest, a database of experts and organizations undertaking work on key Midwest issues, and a blog, The Midwesterner, written and edited by Council senior fellow Dick Longworth. Visit globalmidwest.org

Global Agricultural Development Initiative
The Global Agricultural Development Initiative aims to build on the momentum generated by the Council’s report, Renewing American Leadership in the Fight Against Global Hunger and Poverty: The Chicago Initiative on Global Agricultural Development, and inform the development of U.S. policy on agricultural development and food security by raising awareness and providing resources, information, and policy analysis and recommendations to the U.S. Administration, Congress, and interested experts and organizations. The Global Agricultural Development Initiative Web site, thechicagocouncil.org/globalagdevelopment and blog, Global Food for Thought, provide a central point for information and analyses on global agricultural development and related issues.
